DevFus Foam by the devCad Team

DevFus Foam, the new application to draw and cut foam fuselages

  • Using DevFus Foam you can create in a very simple way a fuselage drawing
  • The Project Wizard will drive you to draw the fuselage using a step by step approach.
To draw the fuselage Side and Top view you can for example adjust the Outlines to follow a scanned image of the fuselage:
  • You can have also the 3D View of the fuselage, but no 3D drawing skill is required!
See below an example, where you can see the different foam blocks of the fuselage:
  •  You can then use 2 different wizards to create in a simple way the cutting files for a 4 axis CNC hot wire foam cutting machine. Each wizard will cut the foam using a different approach.
  • The cutting files can be created using GCode, DAT, DXF or Hpgl/PLT files. You can also simulate the cutting job using a 3D cutting emulator, see the picture below:
  • You can also cut the formers by a CNC milling machine, see the picture below of the milling preview offered but the simulator. This can be useful to add formers or to uset them as templates to cut the foam by a manual hot wire bow
  • Try devFus Foam, some fuselage examples are included, so you can learn how easy is to create your own fuselages taking a look at them.
A step by step help file is also included
  • To download devFus Foam see the Download section of the web site.
  • To get a license of devFus Foam see the Prices section of the web site.

New features added to release 2

  Wing slots cutting

You can define wing slots or similar elements.
Using this new Wizard you can create the cutting files to cut Wing Slots from a set of semiassembled Blocks:
As the cutting plan/direction is different from the one used to cut the Blocks, you must perform a different cut.
  Canopy slots cutting

You can define and cut canopy slots.
Using this new Wizard you can create the cutting files to cut Canopy Slots from a set of semiassembled Blocks:
As the cutting plan/direction is different from the one used to cut the Blocks, you must perform a different cut.
  New 3D preview

The 3D preview has been improved.
Now you have the control over all the displayed items, you can take measurements, show the raster background images and many other new features are included.
  New Block interpolation feature

You can now customize the way each Block is interpolated, defining optional syncro points on the surroinding formers.
As you start a new project all the Block will be interpoled using the Automatic option. This option defines automatically some synchro points, analysing the formers shape. You can then customize them by add and delete functions.
  New Spar types

You can now define more types of spars, placed along the fusolage contour.
You can also define if you want to cut them inline or applying an outline cut.
  More lightening holes options

You can now define more types of lightening holes, and copy/paste them among formers.
  More cutting options

You can now define more options to cut the blocks, and a new GCode creation customization to better control the real cutting speed.
Wizard panel resize to full screen
Now the wizard panels are resized to full screen, to have a better graphic resolution.
  Project Wizard panel expert mode
Now the Project wizard panels includes the expert mode toolbar.
Using this you can navigate the panel the way you want, faster and with minimal recomputing applied. You can also save the project at any stage, without having to exit it.
