It calculates the area and the perimeter of objects or of defined areas
Command
line: AREA
Specify first vertex or [Object/Add/Subtract]: specify a point (1) o enter an option
First vertexCalculate area and perimeter defined by specifying points . Specify the opposite vertex or press ENTER for total:Specify a point (2) Specified points:
Found area:
To define a polygon keep specifying points, then press ENTER to complete defining the perimeter. If the polygon is not closed, the area will be calculated as if a line were drawn between the last and first specified points. The line length will be added when the perimeter will be calculated. |
ObjectCalculate the area and the perimeter of the selected object. Using this option it is possible to calculate the area of circles, ellipses, splines, polylines, polygons and regions. If an open polyline is selected, the area will be calculated as if a line were drawn between the last and first specified points. The line length will be ignored when the perimeter will be calculated.

AddIt enables the Add mode and it adjourns the total area calculation during area definition operations. The Add option calculates single areas and single perimeters of defined areas and objects, plus the total combined area of all the defined areas and objects. To subtract specified areas from the total area, the Subtract option can be used. Specify first vertex or [Add/Subtract]: specify a point (1) or enter an option
Total area:
First vertex Calculate Specify next opposite vertex or press ENTER for total (ADD mode): Specify a point (2) Specify the required points to define a polygon (3). Press ENTER. AREA is used for calculating the area plus the total combined area of all areas by selecting points or objects, since the Add mode has been enabled. If the polygon is not closed, the area will be calculated as if a line were drawn between the last and first specified points. The line length will be added when the perimeter will be calculated. Object Calculate the area of the selected object. (ADD mode) Select objects: AREA is used for calculating the area plus the total combined area of all areas by selecting points or objects, since the Add mode has been enabled. If an open polyline is selected, the area will be calculated as if a line were drawn between the last and first specified points. The line length will be ignored when the perimeter will be calculated. Subtract It enables the Subtract mode, and it adjourns the total area calculation during area subtraction operations. |
SubtractIt is similar to the Add option but it subtracts areas.
